Project Overview
Cooper Construction Services Ltd was engaged to transform the main entrance to the Faircote Dormitory at Pocklington School. The project required a meticulous blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern construction techniques to create a welcoming and functional entrance that complements the historic surroundings of the school.
Scope of Work
1. Internal Remodelling:
Our team undertook extensive internal remodelling to optimize the space and improve functionality. This included:

2. Structural Steelwork:
We incorporated new structural steelwork to support the redesigned entrance, ensuring both durability and compliance with all safety standards.
3. Bespoke Joinery Installations:

- Handcrafted timber doors and frames.
- Custom interior fittings designed to blend with the school’s architectural style.
4. Steel-Framed Entrance Porch:
A standout feature of the project was the construction of a steel-framed entrance porch. The design included:
- A traditional hipped roof with lead covering, showcasing skilled craftsmanship.
- Lead valley gutters and zinc fascia detailing for a polished and durable finish.
- Integration of modern materials while preserving the building’s historic charm.
5. External Groundworks:
Associated groundwork was undertaken to ensure a smooth transition between the entrance and surrounding landscape. This involved:
- Regrading and surfacing to improve accessibility.
- Installing drainage solutions to manage rainwater effectively.
