Little Pips Nursery – Pocklington School

Cooper Construction Services have successfully completed the refurbishment of an existing building, The Hawthorns, previously used as the Estates building for the school’s maintenance team. The building has now been completely transformed into an OFSTED approved nursery featuring a range of natural internal and external features that have been introduced after studies promoting the use of natural textures and colour schemes.

The building started out as the school’s estates building, housing the joinery team, grounds staff and facilities. CCS undertook an initial demolition phase to remove the walls and change the openings to suit. The demolition works were shortly followed by internal drainage. The project had a tight deadline for completion as the work needed to be complete ready for the school to take over the building ready for a September 2025 start. 

With the demolition complete, we set out work with the internal walls and flooring. The carefully planned building started to come into shape in May when the layout of the building and 1st fix had been completed. The start of the playground supplied by Copper Beach Play also began. They set out to create a natural play area using natural materials and home-grown British hardwood. 

With a tight deadline of mid-July, we were able to deliver a scheme successfully approved by OFSTED and loved by the client.
