Canham Turner Kitchen Floor

Cooper Construction Services Ltd has carried out a comprehensive kitchen floor replacement project at the Canham Turner Building, located within Hull University. This project, identified under code C03372, began on Thursday, 2 January 2025, and will run through to Friday, 17 January 2025. The works were designed to be completed over a two-and-a-half-week period, with a focus on safety, precision, and minimal disruption to the building’s operations.
The project commenced with site setup and the application of protective measures to safeguard surrounding areas. Simultaneously, the fire alarm system was isolated to allow safe execution of the works. Following this, existing kitchen appliances were disconnected and removed over a two-day period to clear the area for flooring works. Once the space was prepared, the existing flooring was removed and the subfloor levelled using latex screed, ensuring a smooth and durable base for the new installation.

The installation of new vinyl flooring took place over four days, from Tuesday, 7 January to Friday, 10 January. This phase was supported by joinery attendance to ensure all edges, thresholds, and interfaces are finished to a high standard. The following week, on Monday, 13 January, flexible pipework and connections were replaced as part of the kitchen’s mechanical upgrades. Appliances were then reinstalled and reconnected over two days, ensuring the kitchen was fully operational and compliant with safety standards.
To conclude the project, a full contract clean was carried out on Thursday, 16 January, leaving the site spotless and ready for use. The final day, Friday, 17 January, was dedicated to snagging and demobilisation, addressing any outstanding issues and removing all temporary installations and equipment.

This programme reflects Cooper Construction’s commitment to delivering high-quality refurbishment works with careful planning and attention to detail. The kitchen at the Canham Turner Building will be left with a modern, durable, and hygienic flooring solution, ready to support the building’s ongoing use.
