Bridlington Spa Roof Repair

Cooper Construction Services Ltd are proud to have completed a focused programme of roof repair works at The Royal Spa, located on South Marine Drive in Bridlington. This project, ran from Monday, 25 November to Friday, 29 November 2024, aimed at addressing essential maintenance above the harbour-facing windows of this historic seafront building. The works were designed to be completed efficiently within a five-day window, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding area while maintaining the highest standards of safety and craftsmanship.

The project commenced with the setup of the site, including the erection of Heras fencing and the delivery of a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP). This initial phase ensures that the work area is secure and that all necessary equipment is in place for the tasks ahead. On the second day, roof protection was installed to safeguard the structure during the works, followed by the careful removal of the existing lightning conductor and parapet coverings. These steps were crucial to prepare the roof for the subsequent repair and replacement activities.
Midweek, the team carried out timber repairs and replacements where necessary, addressing any structural weaknesses identified in the roof’s framework. This was followed by the installation of a new single ply membrane, a modern waterproofing solution that enhances the roof’s durability and weather resistance. The membrane installation spanned two days, ensuring a thorough and precise application. Once the new membrane was in place, the previously removed lightning conductor was reattached, restoring the building’s protection against electrical storms.
The final day of the project involved site demobilisation, including the removal of all temporary fencing and equipment. This marked the completion of the works, leaving the site clean, safe, and fully restored. Throughout the project, Cooper Construction Services Ltd adhered to strict health and safety protocols, ensuring that all activities are conducted responsibly and with minimal impact on the public and the environment.
This programme of works reflects Cooper Construction’s commitment to preserving the integrity of historic buildings while employing modern construction techniques. The Royal Spa’s roof is now left in a significantly improved condition, ready to withstand the coastal elements for years to come.
