CCS Progress Redlands Project For Cygnet In Darlington

Works at our latest project have been progressing steadily since starting on site at the beginning of February, with strong momentum maintained across each phase of the programme. From day one, the focus has been on establishing a clear sequence of works and ensuring that early-stage activities were completed efficiently to set the project up for continued progress.
The initial phase of demolition and full strip out of the existing building has now been successfully completed. This involved removing all redundant internal elements and finishes, allowing us to take the building back to a clear structural shell. At the same time, all required internal and external openings were carefully formed in line with the new design, creating the foundations for the reconfigured layout and improving both access and flow throughout the space.
Following the strip out, attention turned to the structural package, which has now been completed in full. These works were critical in supporting the alterations to the building and ensuring it was ready to accommodate the new layout and service requirements. With the structural elements in place, the project moved seamlessly into the first fix stage, maintaining programme continuity and keeping trades working efficiently alongside one another.
M&E first fix works have now been completed throughout the building, including the installation of the nurse call system infrastructure. This aspect of the project required a high level of coordination to ensure that all containment, cabling and system requirements were installed correctly and in the right sequence, particularly given the importance of reliability and compliance within this type of environment.
The project has now transitioned into the internal finishing phase, where visible progress is becoming more apparent. Following a successful bonding stage, our plastering team are currently on site carrying out boarding and skimming works throughout the building. This stage is beginning to bring definition to the internal spaces, with walls and ceilings taking shape and giving a clear indication of the final layout and finish.
Overall, the scheme is progressing well, with each stage being delivered in a logical order and to a consistent standard. The coordination between trades and careful management of the programme has allowed works to flow smoothly from one phase to the next, avoiding delays and maintaining productivity on site.
For Cooper Construction Services, this project highlights our capability in delivering complex refurbishment schemes that combine structural alterations, detailed M&E installations and high-quality internal finishes within an existing building. We look forward to seeing the next stages unfold as the project continues to develop over the coming weeks.
