Cygnet Hollyhurst Retool: March Site Progress Update
Work continues at pace on the retooling of Cygnet Healthcare’s Hollyhurst site, as Cooper Construction Services moves closer to delivering another high-quality healthcare facility. As we reach the end of March, significant strides have been made across several key areas of the development, with both internal and external works progressing steadily.
Flats 1, 2 and 3 have seen a flurry of activity over the past week. External windows and doors have now been successfully installed, giving the buildings a weathertight shell and allowing interior works to accelerate. Within Flat 3, the installation of floor insulation and screed has been completed, setting the groundwork for final finishes. In Flats 2 and 3, all boarding and skimming have been completed, and second fix M&E works are now 90% finished. Joinery is progressing in parallel and is also at the 90% mark, highlighting the coordinated effort on site to ensure timely delivery.
Kitchen installations in Flats 2 and 3 are now 80% complete, and decorating works are well underway, with 70% of the internal painting already finished. Communal areas are also being prioritised, with the floor covering in the external corridor between Flats 2 and 3 completed and the corridor WC now reinstated. Externally, paving works around Flats 1, 2 and 3 have reached 80% completion, contributing to the wider site’s transformation. Technology has also been integrated into the scheme, with camera systems installed and commissioned in Flats 2 and 3 and their associated areas. Additionally, the dining room has benefited from upgrades including a new fridge, units, and a solid surface breakfast bar and upstand, all of which support the functionality and aesthetics of the space.
Looking ahead to the coming week, work will continue inside Flat 1, with boarding of internal walls progressing and skimming of ceilings and walls scheduled to begin. Internal window boards are also due to be installed. Externally, the application of the through-colour render system will commence, further improving the building’s appearance and durability. Meanwhile, remaining works in Flats 2 and 3 will focus on finishing the kitchens, completing decoration, and installing life safety systems throughout.
A number of procurement and specification matters are currently being coordinated with Cygnet Healthcare to maintain momentum. While rendering materials and radiator covers have already been secured, some decisions are still awaited on final FFE, curtain and blind specifications, and written confirmation of hygiene cladding colours. CCS has proactively provided layout drawings to assist with final selections, but these decisions remain time-critical to avoid any delays to the final handover of Flats 1, 2 and 3.
We remain committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety, with no reportable incidents on site this week and all necessary permits and isolation measures in place to support a safe working environment. Our project and health and safety documentation continues to evolve alongside the build, ensuring that every step taken is recorded, reviewed and delivered in line with best practice.
As we move into April, our team continues to work closely with Cygnet Healthcare to ensure that every detail meets the expectations of a modern, safe, and purpose-built care environment.
